Our Roots

Timothy and Bridgette Boykin are the passionate founders of The Krewe of the Afro Port City Riders, a unique organization that was established February 14, 2023, and that celebrates the vibrant African American culture and history of their hometown of Mobile, Alabama. As lifelong residents, they have a deep appreciation for the rich heritage and resilient spirit that permeates their community.
Through this organization, they have created a dynamic platform to highlight this proud legacy, organizing and displaying their strong beliefs by displaying, supporting, and honoring Black leaders, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), the United States Military, and Black history as a whole. Cruising through the heart of their Port City, The Krewe of the Afro Port City Riders bring this celebration to life in a captivating way, with their parade float and festivities capturing the rhythm and energy of Mardi Gras.
Our organization serves as a powerful vehicle for the African American community to come together, uplift one another, and share our extraordinary story with the world. By elevating Black voices, achievements, and cultural traditions, The Krewe of the Afro Port City Riders ignites a sense of unity, purpose, and unshakable pride that resonates throughout their coastal hometown and beyond.
